The veteran “Frasier” actor and outspoken Republican has repeatedly praised former President Donald Trump in recent interviews, confirming he voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and plans to do so again.
Conservative TV star praises Trump
Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane in the NBC sitcom Frasier. The actor has often voiced support for Donald Trump. In a May 2025 interview with The Times (UK), Grammer said it was “great to have somebody who actually means what they say” when referring to President Trump.
He noted that he isn’t “a big government guy” and “doesn’t have a lot of problems” with many of Trump’s policies. A proud Republican, Grammer told The New York Times that “to be anything else would be a problem,” emphasizing that he refuses to hide his conservative beliefs in liberal Hollywood.

Speaking with Fox News Digital at a Kennedy Center Honors dinner in December 2025, he called the former president “extraordinary” and “maybe the greatest” president in U.S. history.
“I think he’s extraordinary. He’s one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had. Maybe the greatest,” Grammer said. Media outlets reported that Grammer made a “bold declaration” of Trump’s legacy, echoing that “one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had, maybe the greatest” line. Grammer added that he admires Trump’s candor and consistency, recalling that he values a leader who “means what [they] say”.
Candid interviews spur controversy
Grammer has repeatedly confirmed his support for Trump in interviews. In December 2023, during a BBC Radio 4 Today program segment, he was asked if he still backed the ex-president. Grammer replied simply, “I am,” and added “I’ll let that be the end of it”.
BBC co-host Justin Webb later noted that Grammer “was perfectly happy” to discuss his Trump support at length, but that Paramount+ publicists cut the interview short to stay on schedule. Ahead of the 2024 election, Grammer told Vanity Fair that he still intends to vote for Trump.
He has confirmed he voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020. In a 2019 interview he even admitted Trump could be “a bit of a brat,” but said he had “not a lot of problems” with the former president’s policies. Grammer has said his outspoken conservatism has not hurt his career, and he stands by backing Trump and other like-minded figures even if it draws criticism.
Political donations and other support
Federal records show Grammer has financially supported Republican candidates. In 2016 he donated $5,000 each to the presidential campaigns of Ben Carson and Rand Paul. (Both candidates later dropped out; Carson eventually endorsed Trump.)
He has given no money to Democrats, and has stressed that he won’t “go along with a lot of what is preached in Hollywood”. As the 2024 U.S. election approaches, Grammer remains an outspoken Trump backer – publicly praising the former president’s leadership and confirming he will vote Republican once again.
