Barron Trump, 19, began his college education in fall 2024 at New York University’s Stern School of Business in Manhattan. Former President Trump confirmed in an interview that Barron enrolled at NYU, and the Associated Press reported that “he began his freshman year of college this week at New York University”.

The AP noted that Barron – who graduated in May 2024 from Oxbridge Academy, a private school near his family’s Florida home – would attend classes “a few miles away from his childhood home in Trump Tower”. Unlike his older siblings (who all attended University of Pennsylvania), Barron chose Stern; his father quipped “We went to Stern,” confirming the choice.

Throughout his freshman year, Barron lived in Trump Tower and commuted to NYU’s Greenwich Village campus under Secret Service protection. NYU security officials confirmed in September 2024 that he arrived on campus on his first day of classes, surrounded by agents.

Barron’s first-year campus experience has drawn some media attention. Classmates told PEOPLE that the 18-year-old was fitting in socially: one source said Barron “has been popular with the ladies” since starting at NYU, calling him “a ladies man for sure” who is “tall and handsome”.

In its profile of Barron, PEOPLE noted that he was often seen on campus simply going “to class” and then “going home” to his apartment, as one former campus leader described him as “sort of like an oddity on campus”. Apart from these glimpses, Barron has kept a very low profile. He does not give interviews or post on social media, which Vanity Fair observed has only “deepened his mystique” as a public figure.

He has not made public statements or maintained a social media account, a fact noted by Vanity Fair as contributing to the “mystique” surrounding him.

Entering his second year in fall 2025, Barron transferred to NYU’s Washington, D.C., campus to stay close to his parents in the White House.  PEOPLE reported that he “is now attending classes at NYU’s Washington, D.C., campus, which sits only a few blocks from the White House”.

This move was confirmed by sources after he failed to appear at NYU’s Manhattan campus when classes resumed, and local news coverage noted that Barron “has moved into the White House for his sophomore year” and is taking classes at the D.C. campus.

The Washington campus is much smaller (a few dozen students) and offers opportunities to study government and policy, but the exact reason for his transfer has not been disclosed. According to reporting, Barron spent his freshman year living in Manhattan and commuting to class, whereas as a sophomore he now lives near the White House – with Melania Trump noting he “will always have a room waiting” for him there.

Several news outlets have also highlighted a change in Barron’s public image since starting college. Media noted that his style has become more relaxed and youthful. For example, India Today (citing Daily Mail photos) reported that Barron was seen on campus wearing a white Ralph Lauren polo shirt, beige chinos, and a brown belt, “a big contrast to the tailored suits and long coats he’d often worn in the past”.

They added that his hairstyle, previously slicked back, was now worn naturally – part of “a more laid-back phase” in his appearance. Such reports suggested a deliberate shift from a formal, polished look toward a casual “college” wardrobe.

Family interviews and media accounts underscore that Barron’s shift into college life is being managed quietly. His parents have praised his maturity and choices. In September 2024, Melania Trump told Fox News it was Barron’s decision to study in New York and live at home, and she called her son “an incredible young man,” praising his strength, intelligence, and kindness.

Similarly, Donald Trump told a reporter that Barron is “no longer a child…he’s doing great” as he begins college. At public events, Barron has made few statements himself, but he has been seen supporting his father’s campaign (attending the first Trump rally of 2024) and later standing behind him at the 2025 inauguration. Reporters note that beyond such family appearances, most information about Barron’s college life comes from second-hand sources and media profiles.

In sum, credible reporting confirms Barron’s enrollment at NYU and his transfer to the D.C. campus, and observers have noted that he presents a more casual, “low-key” image as he adjusts to college life.
